Curly from Shirley, the daft dog from Christchurch, is snooping for snacks... Join him as his rumbly tum gets him into all sorts of trouble!

From Christchurch author, Emma Pullar, and award winning illustrator Victoria M. Azaro.

Now, this is quite interesting. After the massive earthquake in Christchurch New Zealand, Victoria decided that she needed to do something to help the children of Christchurch. I told her maybe I could go myself and tell them how wonderful I am. She said we needed to come up with something fun. I told her I could also tell them how wonderful and FUNNY I am. So I have been really busy preparing my speech for the Christchurch kids. It's really funny. I can be so funny when I want to. I am so good at funny stuff.

But last night Mum came back with this book about a dog from Christchurch. It says that Victoria is the illustrator and that all proceeds go straight to New Zealand Red Cross 2011 Earthquake Appeal. Mum says that it's just wonderful and that little Curly is a beauty. Mmmmm... I will keep writing my speech...

A word from Victoria

"Curley from Shirley" was a pleasure to illustrate. I did it in just eight days! We were on a very tight schedule since we wanted to launch the book exactly one month after the Christchurch earthquake.

Dog's tale offers hope to Christchurch kids

Four women from opposite ends of the country were determined to illustrate, design, publish and distribute a book in one month – a feat that usually takes up to two years.

The women were driven to succeed because of the one thing they all couldn't stop thinking about – the Christchurch earthquake.
